What's Next for Drone Station

Drone Station is the first of three practice modules I'm building for slide guitar players. Triads and Loop Station are next — and if you've already got Drone Station, Loop Station will be free when it lands.

I didn't set out to build an "app suite." I set out to build one tool that would fix the thing I kept seeing in lessons: students who could play the right notes but couldn't hear the key centre they were sitting in. Drone Station was the answer — hold a note, feel where you are, then go find that sound on the neck. Simple, and it's stayed that way on purpose.

But once that was working, a couple of gaps kept showing up in the same lessons, over and over. So here's where things are headed.

Triads — up next

Triads is the smaller of the two remaining pieces. It's built for exactly one habit: seeing the shapes that make up the chords you're soloing over, without reaching for a book or a diagram mid-practice. More on this one closer to release.

Loop Station — the one I'm most excited about

Loop Station is a proper practice partner. Set a chord progression, add drums and bass underneath it, and solo over the top — the way you'd actually play with other musicians, minus needing to round any up. Here's an early mock-up:

The idea is to pick a key, dial in a progression like I–IV–V, switch on drums and bass, and just play. Flip on "Demo Play" and it'll show you a phrase over the top first, if you want a starting idea before you improvise your own.

No firm release date yet — I'd rather ship something that actually feels good under your fingers than rush it out. Drone Station itself is through testing and about to go live, so that's the one to grab first regardless of what comes next.
